The Main Function Hall is perfect for weddings and receptions of up to 300 people. Looking for a smaller space? Our cafe and indoor courtyard combined make an ideal setting for a wedding brunch. Or use the cafe for your cocktail hour while we transition the Main Hall from ceremony set-up to reception-ready. With three floors and four unique spaces, we can customize a rental package for any event.

UTEC offers the perfect mix of historic and modern, all under one (solar-paneled) roof. The original church was built in 1839, with a major renovation and addition in 2012 earning it the title of "World's Oldest Green Building." Anyone who appreciates architecture, sustainable design, historical details, and innovative spaces will be wowed by this unique venue. Did you know that St. Paul's Methodist Church (our building) was the first in the country to raise the Union Flag? Ask us for more historical tidbits! 

3. we offer catering options

Whether you need muffins and scones for a wedding brunch or want a hearty buffet with meats and sides, our in-house catering team can make it happen. Several renters and guests have commented that our food is "the best wedding food they've ever had." Using local herbs and vegetables when possible, our professional chefs and UTEC program participants work together to create menu offerings to fit all tastes and budgets. Our catering team specializes in buffet service but we can offer other service styles on occasion - just ask! While we request that we have right of first refusal for certain events, outside caterers ARE welcome here! We have a full catering kitchen that is available to your licensed caterer.

Under the direction of senior event staff, UTEC program participants will help to set-up, break-down, staff, and cater your event. Whether following a floor-plan to arrange tables and chairs or staffing a buffet table, young adults gain invaluable work experience both behind the scenes and during your event.

From a green space in front of the historic church building to a multi-story atrium adjacent to the cafe, UTEC is filled with perfect spots for your photos. Have your bridal portraits taken in front of the original stained glass windows, commemorate your grand entrance with photos of your wedding party descending the mezzanine stairs, and take advantage of beautiful natural light throughout the building. 

4. no need to rent tables and chairs

UTEC has event furnishings available for your use. Options include enough 60" round tables and banquet chairs to seat up to 300 guests, as well as buffet, cake, and sweetheart tables. All of the above, and more, is included in the rental fee. We even set it up for you! Our Events team can arrange for outside rentals of additional furnishings for a minimal coordination fee.

10. full AV, sound, and lighting capability

UTEC has full AV capacity in all of our rental spaces. This includes projectors, microphones, surround sound, and wall-mounted monitors. In the Main Hall, there is a 20 plus foot drop-down screen - perfect for a photo slideshow during your reception! We also have a multi-channel soundboard and theater lighting, as well as staff to run all of the above equipment. While additional fees apply for AV, sound, and lighting equipment rental and staffing in the Main Hall, this eliminates the need for shopping elsewhere for equipment rental, and our rates are competitive with others... without delivery fees!

5. we want to help 

During the months and weeks leading up to your wedding, our Events team is available for walk-through consultations and vendor recommendations. On your big day, our staff will set up tables and chairs for you, be available throughout your event, and work with your vendors to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

You can't beat our downtown Lowell location. UTEC is within 30 miles of Boston, with all of the convenience at a fraction of the cost. With hotels and motels nearby (including one across the street), local museums, festivals and other attractions, guests can easily make a weekend of it!
