You can't beat our downtown Lowell location. UTEC is within 30 miles of Boston, with all of the convenience at a fraction of the cost. With hotels and motels nearby (including one across the street) and convenient public transportation, Lowell is a prime location for New England events. 

6. we want to help 

During the months, weeks, and days leading up to the event, our Events Manager is available for walk-through consultations and vendor recommendations. On the day of, our staff will set up tables and chairs for you, be available throughout your event hours, and work with your vendors to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

1. rental revenue helps support our mission

Facility rentals help allow UTEC to sustain and grow its mission and programming. By booking an event in our building, you are showing your support of our mission and promise to ignite and nurture the ambition of our most disconnected young people to trade violence and poverty for social and economic success. You are helping us to plant seeds of peace in the community. 

11. the extras

In addition to everything mentioned above, including event furnishings, sound and lighting equipment, and AV capacity in every room, UTEC offers even more. We'd love to offer a green building tour as part of the evening, UTEC welcome and program overview (given by staff and/or program participants), energizer or team-building activity, or breakdancing performance. Contact us for more information and options! 

5. no need to rent tables and chairs

UTEC has event furnishings available for your use. Options include enough 60" round tables and banquet chairs to seat up to 300 guests, as well as buffet and seminar tables. All of the above, and more, is included in the rental fee. Our Events Manager can arrange for outside rentals of additional furnishings for a minimal coordination fee. 

4. we also allow outside vendors

Our catering team specializes in buffet service and occasionally family-style meals - whether breakfast, lunch, dinner, or hors d'ouevres. We'd love to cater your event, but do recognize our limits. Outside caterers ARE welcome here if we cannot accommodate your event due to budget, availability, or menu needs. We have a full catering kitchen that is available to your licensed caterers. 

2. facility rentals employ utec young adults

Under the direction of senior event staff, UTEC program participants help set-up, break-down, staff, and cater your event. Whether following a floor-plan to arrange tables and chairs, welcoming guests at our front door, or staffing a buffet table at a reception, program young people gain invaluable work experience behind the scenes and during your event.


10. full av, sound, and lighting capability

UTEC has full AV capacity in all of our rental spaces. This includes projectors, microphones, surround sound, and wall-mounted monitors. In the Main Function Hall, there is also a 20-foot drop-down screen. We have a multi-channel soundboard and theater lighting, as well as staff to run all of the above equipment. While additional fees apply for AV, sound, and lighting equipment rental and staffing in the Main Hall, this eliminates the need for shopping elsewhere for this equipment. And of course, no delivery fees!

3. utec has in-house catering

Whether you need muffins and scones for a morning seminar or want a hearty buffet with meats and sides, our in-house catering team can make it happen. Using local herbs and vegetables when possible (some are even grown on-site), our professional chefs and program participants work together to create menu offerings to fit all tastes and budgets.

9. options abound

The Main Function Hall is perfect for concerts, film releases, lectures, tradeshows, and dinners with up to 300 guests (more for standing events). Looking for a smaller space? Our cafe and indoor courtyard combined make an ideal setting for an evening cocktail party or weekend brunch. With two buildings, three floors and five unique spaces, we can customize a rental package for any event. 

8. it's a truly amazing building

UTEC's Event Facility offers the perfect mix of historic and modern, all under one (solar-paneled) roof. The original church was built in 1839, with a major renovation and addition in 2012 earning it the title of "World's Oldest Green Building." Anyone who appreciates architecture, sustainable design, historical details, and innovative spaces will be wowed by this unique venue.
